Cardinal Emergency Fund

GIVE NOW

Lamar University is known for crisis resiliency, for faculty ready and able to transition to varied course offering modalities, and for alumni whose experiential learning provides their industries with professionals whose experience and agility allow them to rise to any task or challenge.

As we deal with the impact of COVID-19 pandemic at Lamar University, we are focused on ensuring that our students can continue their academic pursuits.  Our students face unprecedented challenges and financial difficulties that threaten to derail their journey.

Lamar University alumni and friends have supported our students for nearly 100 years, so it is no surprise that many are now asking what they can do to help our students facing these dramatic challenges.  For those able to provide assistance at this time, we suggest a gift to support the Cardinal Emergency Fund.

Lamar University established the Cardinal Emergency Fund three years ago to support our students facing disruptions in their academic endeavors.  This fund will help our students with the current issues they are facing, including housing and food insecurity, travel expenses, technology costs associated with digital learning, and other financial challenges.

Alumni and friends of Lamar University can also help in other ways.  Given the economic crisis, many students face new challenges finding employment. If you know of job openings or internship opportunities within your company or community that could be available to a student at Lamar University, please contact our Center for Career and Professional Development office at careercenter@lamar.edu. Additionally, we are calling on all alumni to help recruit future Cardinals!

The Office of Admissions and Recruitment could use your assistance reaching out to prospective students and sharing all of the wonderful things LU has to offer. If you are interested, please let us know and we will promptly follow up with details.

Thank you and stay well!
