LU Department of Theatre presents "Comedy of Errors"

The Lamar University Department of Theatre and Dance will present William Shakespeare’s “Comedy of Errors” on March 21-24 in the University Theatre. The production is directed by Brian LeTraunik, assistant professor of Comedy of Errorstheatre in the department.

In this classic comedy of mistaken identity, “The Comedy of Errors” tells the story of two sets of identical twins who were accidentally separated at birth. As the twins find themselves in the same town on the same day, absolute hilarity unfolds. As the story unravels, a series of wild mishaps lead to wrongful beatings, a near-seduction, an arrest and false accusations of infidelity, theft, madness and demonic possession.

"I am so excited to bring this most madcap of Shakespeare's comedies to Lamar's stage," said LeTraunik. "This play encapsulates everything I love about Shakespeare - great language, robust characters and physical comedy."

The cast includes: Henry Phillips, Groves; Austin Jones, Houston; Dustin Smith, Saratoga; Josh Pendino, Lumberton; Ed Seymour, Nederland; Daelen Fox, Vidor; Nathan Crump, Vidor; Matt Hurt, Nederland; Brianna Butler, Crosby; Jessica Hayes, Beaumont; Ashley Galan, Houston; and Hannah Johnson, Amarillo.

“The Comedy of Errors” will feature a cast of Lamar University students. The production begins at 7:30 p.m. each evening, and the Sunday matinee begins at 2 p.m. Tickets range in price from $7-$15 and can be purchased online at lamar.edu/theatre.
