Oil and Gas Careers and Outlook Panel Discussion

In response to the historic downturn in the energy industry and economy at large, Lamar University College of Engineering is hosting a panel discussion webinar addressed to prospective matriculating and graduating Tank Farmengineering students about the current state of the industry and the outlook for jobs in the energy sector.

Panelists will include Todd Staples, president of Texas Oil and Gas Association, Frank Lodzinski, chairman of the board of Earthstone Energy, John Mork, president of EnerG-ID Solutions and Elohor Okene, a spring 2020 graduate of the Dan F. Smith Department of Chemical Engineering who has accepted a position with a major local chemical company. Dr. Brian Craig, dean of the College of Engineering, will moderate the discussion.

“The current pandemic-driven economy is giving many cause for concern and uncertainty, especially when it comes to their education and career,” said Craig. “The LUCOE will offer a short webinar bringing together leaders in the oil and gas industry to address these concerns and provide a glimpse into the future of the oil and gas industry.”

While the webinar is aimed at students who are contemplating joining the energy sector, LU College of Engineering invites the community to participate in the discussion to hear panelists’ expert perspectives on the recent events that affect the Southeast Texas area.

The webinar will take place on Thurs., May 28 at 8:30 a.m. and can be accessed at
