Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program

Lamar University’s HUB Program is a state-mandated program (Texas Government Code §2161) created to promote equal procurement and contracting opportunities for small, minority, service-disabled veteran, and woman-owned businesses throughout Texas.

A Historically Underutilized Business is defined as a profit-making corporation, sole proprietorship, partnership, or joint venture in which at least 51% of the shares of stock or equitable securities are owned by one or more persons who are members of the following groups: Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Native Americans, American Women, Service-Disabled Veterans.

Lamar encourages qualifying vendors to apply for HUB certification through the State of Texas Comptroller. Vendors can review the HUB Certification Process online and also Apply Online for HUB Certification.
