Faculty Research 2026 Winner

Lamar University recognized Dr. Xuejun Fan at its inaugural Faculty Excellence Awards for his outstanding contributions to research and innovation. A professor in the College of Engineering, Dr. Fan received the Excellence in Research Award for his impactful work in semiconductor reliability and high-performance computing.

The award highlights Dr. Fan’s global influence, extensive research funding, and dedication to advancing microelectronics while mentoring students. His recognition reflects both his individual achievements and Lamar University’s growing momentum in research and academic excellence.

The Faculty Excellence Awards were established to celebrate outstanding scholarship and creative achievement, with recipients selected through a peer nomination and review process. Dr. Fan’s recognition underscores the significance of faculty-driven innovation at Lamar University and reflects the institution’s continued commitment to expanding its research impact and academic reputation.

Nominate a Faculty Member

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs Administration is proud to bestow the Excellence in Research Award and the Excellence in Artistic and Creative Endeavors Award upon eligible faculty members displaying outstanding achievements in their fields.  This recognition reflects Lamar University's commitment to fostering a vibrant academic community and honoring those who contribute significantly to their disciplines.

The University will confer one of each of these awards to a faculty member who meets the following criteria:

  • Holds a tenured or tenure-track appointment at Lamar University.
  • Has completed no fewer than five years of service at the university.
  • Has conducted a substantial portion of their research, artistic, or creative work while at Lamar University.
  • Has not have received the award previously.

Nomination packets must include:

  • A concise letter of nomination, not more than two pages in length, summarizing in layperson’s terms the scope and significance of the nominee’s major research, artistic and/or creative accomplishments.
  • The nominee’s curriculum vitae.
  • Three letters of support. (Two of these letters may be requested from LU faculty, staff, or administrators; at least one of the letters shall be solicited from an external nationally/internationally recognized expert familiar with the nominee’s artistic and/or creative accomplishments).
