We are proudly celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Spindletop oil discovery, a transformative event that not only reshaped the global energy industry but also laid the foundation for the growth and development of Southeast Texas.

Spindletop’s legacy of innovation and progress helped create the conditions that gave birth to Lamar University, and we remain deeply connected to that pioneering spirit.  As you join us for this meeting, we invite you to reflect on the remarkable journey from Spindletop’s historic gusher to the thriving institution Lamar University has become today—an institution committed to excellence, opportunity, and service.
